RN to MSN Program Highlights

Build on your existing knowledge and experience as a nurse and obtain your RN to MSN degree.

If you’re already a registered nurse with an ADN degree and you’re interested in expanding your career options in the healthcare industry, you can skip some steps and go from RN to MSN. This RN to MSN program streamlines your educational journey and helps you reach your professional goals faster. Specialty tracks include nursing education and nursing administration, either of which will help you thrive in various leadership roles.

Admission into the RN to MSN program requires:

  • An unencumbered license as a registered nurse (RN) in the United States (US), District of Columbia or US territories, or
  • An unencumbered license as an RN in Canada*, and
  • Graduation from an ADN program or an active ADN student in a nursing program affiliated with Baker College

* Canadian RNs must complete the practicum experiences of this program under the supervision of a baccalaureate nurse licensed in Canada. Successful completion of the Baker College Nursing (RN to BSN) program does not qualify Canadian graduates to take the US NCLEX-RN examination.

Why Earn a Graduate Degree in Nursing?

Patient care is just one aspect of nursing. With their knowledge of the healthcare industry, many nurses move into administrative positions where they can manage and oversee the operations of medical facilities. Other nurses decide to share their expertise with others by becoming nursing instructors. Given how fast the healthcare industry is growing, demand is high for nurses who can move up into these positions. Your career path could include chief nursing officer, nurse manager, nursing director, or a job in nursing academia.

RN to MSN Curriculum

The Baker College Master of Science in Nursing (RN to MSN) program is a three-year program consisting of 48 credit hours (15 credits of ASN to MSN bridge courses, 24 hours of core MSN courses and 9 hours within a specialty track). Specialty tracks offered include Nursing Education and Nursing Administration.
