Student Nurses Association
Description
Bring together and mentor students preparing for initial licensure as registered nurses, as well as those enrolled in baccalaureate completion programs.
Convey the standards and ethics of the nursing profession.
Promote development of the skills that students will need as responsible and accountable members of the nursing profession.
Advocate for high quality, evidence-based, affordable and accessible health care. Advocate for and contribute to advances in nursing education.
Develop nursing students who are prepared to lead the profession in the future.

How to Get Involved
Any student in the nursing program is eligible to join. Students are encouraged to sign up and Baker pays their dues. Each campus has their own chapter and arranges their own meeting date/times, as well as their own activities and fundraisers.
Awards and Achievements
Cadillac
- Stellar Chapter Award
- After successfully completing Fundamentals and Health Assessment, students have the opportunity to sign up to assist at the Stehouwer Free Clinic. The clinic is a nonprofit organization dedicated to offering free limited healthcare to those who cannot afford to see a physician, and who may not have health insurance.
- Volunteer with Little Mary’s Hospitality House every fall and spring to help ready the property for families. Little Mary’s is a local volunteer-run organization that offers free vacations to families with children battling life-threatening or serious illnesses.
- Clean a stretch of US 131 every fall and spring as part of the Adopt a Highway program.
- Deliver Easter Baskets to residents at Samaritas Senior Living Center
- Nursing students who have completed Med/Surg Nursing I and pharmacology may occasionally assist with vaccinations and flu clinics.
Jackson
- Sponsored a Trunk or Treat and Christmas cookie decorating/crafts day for kids
- Sent 2 students to the National Student Nurses Conference in Orlando
Owosso
- Three student delegates from NCNSA Owosso attended the NSNA conference in 2023
- Hold an annual blood drive on campus
- Attend American Red Cross fundraiser Camel Races
- Held events promoting Gift of Life and NMDP, formerly known as the National Marrow Donor Program and Be The Match.
