Certified Nurse Aid Program

Gain Valuable Experience Through Lectures, Labs, and Clinicals
The Certified Nurse Aid (CNA) program prepares you for the Michigan Nurse Aide Competency Evaluation and gives you the skills required to perform the job duties of a CNA.
This program follows the requirements of the State of Michigan Curriculum Model for Nurse Aide Training, providing the knowledge and theory required for proficiency within the nurse aide scope of practice, including Healthcare Provider Basic Life Support (BLS) and First Aid (FA).
Program Schedule
The 10 week intensive program provides a total of 48 hours of lecture, 35 hours of lab and 25 hours of clinical.

Classes meet Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday from 6–9:30 p.m. at the Baker College of Owosso Campus. BLS and FA training runs from 8 a.m.–4:30 p.m. on the scheduled date.
Fall 2024
September 9–November 14, 2024
Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday from 6–9:30 p.m.
Healthcare Provider BLS and FA training will be held on September 27 from 8 a.m.–4:30 p.m.
Spring 2025
January 13–March 24, 2025
Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday from 6–9:30 p.m.
Healthcare Provider BLS and FA training will be held on February 7 from 8 a.m.–4:30 p.m.
Program Requirements
CNA candidates must meet the following requirements to enroll:
- Have a high school diploma or equivalency
- Be able to lift up to 50 pounds
- Be able to read and hear a manual blood pressure
- Have a health-career-oriented mindset and an aptitude to work with the ill, injured, elderly and/or disabled
