The scholarships below are available through the Summer 2024 session. Scholarships for Fall 2024 and beyond are available here.

BeFree Tuition Guarantee

With our BeFree Tuition Guarantee, qualified Michigan residents enrolled in select Baker College programs can have their base tuition costs covered!* This opportunity is available to undergraduate new and transfer students who attend on-campus or online. The BeFree Tuition Guarantee can be combined with the BC Housing Scholarship.

High School Senior Scholarships

Eligibility
Baker College will award the Regents Scholarship to graduating high school seniors based on the following criteria:

  • The student must be attending an undergraduate campus.
  • The student must have at least a 3.5 GPA (based on a 4.0 GPA scale) by the end of their junior or senior year.
  • The student must enroll and attend during the summer or fall semester after high school graduation.

Scholarship Amount
The scholarship will be awarded at $3,000 per semester (up to $9,000 per year for students who attend summer). The scholarship is available for up to 4 years. The total value is estimated at $24,000.

Deadline
The scholarship priority deadline is May 1. The student must submit the following documents prior to be considered for the scholarship during the upcoming school year:

  • Completed & Paid Admissions Application.
  • High School Transcript (Please contact your Admissions Advisor if an extension is needed).

Scholarship Requirements
To receive the scholarship funds, students must meet the following criteria:

  • To qualify for the full scholarship, students must enroll full-time each semester (typically 15 credit hours). The scholarship award amount will be prorated based on actual enrollment status (minimum of 6 credit hours required).
  • Summer registration is not required; however, funds will be awarded if students attend at least half-time during the summer semester. 
  • For renewal, students must maintain a minimum of a 3.0 cumulative GPA at the end of each spring semester.
  • Students receiving the scholarship will not be awarded other institutional aid or scholarships (unless the other scholarship allows funds to be combined).
  • Students are encouraged to apply for financial aid; however, financial need is not a requirement to receive the scholarship.
  • The scholarship amount is based on institutional charges. If the student is eligible for financial aid (or other funding resources), the other aid/resources must be used first; the balance of unused portion of the scholarship is returned to the college.

Eligibility
Baker College will award the Deans Scholarship to graduating high school seniors based on the following criteria:

  • The student must be attending an undergraduate campus.
  • The student must have at least a 3.0 GPA (based on a 4.0 GPA scale) by the end of their junior or senior year.
  • The student must enroll and attend during the summer or fall semester after high school graduation.

Scholarship Amount
The scholarship will be awarded at $1,500 per semester (up to $4,500 per year for students who attend summer). The scholarship is available for up to 4 years. The total value is estimated at $12,000.

Deadline
The scholarship priority deadline is May 1. The student must submit the following documents prior to be considered for the scholarship during the upcoming school year:

  • Completed and Paid Admissions Application.

Eligibility
Baker College will award the BC Opportunity Scholarship to graduating high school seniors based on the following criteria:

  • The student must be attending an undergraduate campus.
  • The student must have a 2.5 – 2.99 cumulative GPA (based on a 4.0 GPA scale) in high school.
  • The student must enroll and attend during the summer or fall after high school graduation.

Scholarship Amount
The scholarship will be awarded at $750 per semester (up to $2,250 per year for students who attend summer). The scholarship is available for up to 4 years. The total value is estimated at $9,000.

Deadline
The scholarship priority deadline is May 1. The student must submit the following documents prior to be considered for the scholarship during the upcoming school year:

  • Completed Admissions Application.
  • High School Transcript 

Scholarship Requirements
To receive the scholarship funds, students must meet the following criteria:

  • To qualify for the full scholarship, students must enroll full-time each semester (typically 15 credit hours). The scholarship award amount will be prorated based on actual enrollment status (minimum of 6 credit hours required).
  • Summer registration is not required; however, funds will be awarded if students attend at least half-time during the summer semester. 
  • For renewal, students must maintain a minimum of a 2.7 cumulative GPA at the end of each spring semester.
  • Students receiving the scholarship will not be awarded other institutional aid or scholarships (unless the other scholarship allows funds to be combined).
  • Students are encouraged to apply for financial aid; however, financial need is not a requirement to receive the scholarship.
  • The scholarship amount is based on institutional charges. If the student is eligible for financial aid (or other funding resources), the other aid/resources must be used first; the balance of the unused portion of the scholarship is returned to the college.

Eligibility
Baker College will award the BC Housing Scholarship based on the following criteria:

  • The student must be attending an undergraduate campus.
  • The student must be under 25 years old at the term’s start.
  • The student must reside on Cadillac, Owosso, or Port Huron campuses.
  • The student must be enrolled in any Baker College certificate, associate or bachelor’s degree program.
  • The student must be a new or re-entry student to Baker College.

Scholarship Amount
The scholarship covers housing costs for fall and/or spring semesters as detailed below (this scholarship is not available for summer semester):

Scholarship Requirements
To receive the scholarship funds, students must meet the following criteria:

  • Must be an undergraduate learner enrolled full-time each term and maintain continuous enrollment.
    • Courses can be taken online, in-person, or online live.
  • Must maintain good academic standing.
    • New First-year and Transfer students admitted to the college are considered in good standing in their first semester.
    • Re-entry and continuing students must be in good standing, as per the student handbook.

Students interested in the BC Housing Scholarship should complete the Request Info form or speak directly with one of the admissions advisors at admissions@baker.edu or 855-487-7888.

New and/or Current Student Scholarships

Eligibility
Baker College will award the Gap Year Scholarship to 2020, 2021, or 2022 high school graduates based on the following criteria:

  • The student must attend an undergraduate campus within 3.5 years of high school graduation.
  • The student must have at least a 3.0 GPA (based on a 4.0 GPA scale) by the end of their senior year.
  • If the student attended college after high school graduation, they must have fewer than 15 college credits earned.  

Scholarship Amount
The scholarship will be awarded at $1,500 per semester (up to $4,500 per year for students who attend summer). The scholarship is available for up to 4 years. The total value is estimated at $12,000.

Deadline
The scholarship deadline is 30 days prior to the start of the semester the student plans to enroll as a new student.  The student must submit the following documents to be considered for the scholarship during the upcoming school year:

  • Completed and Paid Admissions Application.
  • High School Transcript.

Scholarship Requirements
To receive the scholarship funds, students must meet the following criteria:

  • Register for a minimum of 15 credit hours per semester (exceptions are allowed when required based on program restrictions). If exceptions are made, the scholarship award amount may be prorated based on the student’s enrollment status.
  • Summer registration is not required; however, funds will be awarded if students attend during the summer semester. The award amount will be prorated if the student does not attend full time.
  • For renewal, students must maintain a minimum of a 3.0 cumulative GPA at the end of each spring semester.
  • Students receiving the scholarship will not be awarded other institutional aid or scholarships (unless the other scholarship allows funds to be combined).
  • Students are encouraged to apply for financial aid; however, financial need is not a requirement to receive the scholarship.
  • The scholarship amount is based on institutional charges. If the student is eligible for financial aid (or other funding resources), the other aid/resources must be used first; the balance of the unused portion of the scholarship is returned to the college.

Eligibility
Baker College will award the Frederick and Dorothy Baker Scholarship to students based on the following criteria:

  • High school students/graduates must have at least a 2.5 GPA (based on a 4.0 scale) by the end of their junior or senior year of high school.
  • College transfer students must have at least a 2.5 cumulative GPA at their prior college or university.
  • The student must enroll into the Certificate of Diesel or Certificate of Automotive Services Technology programs.

Scholarship Amount
The scholarship will be awarded for up to $3,000 per year ($1,500 for fall and spring semesters).

Deadline
The scholarship is awarded at time of acceptance into the college. The deadline is 30 days prior to the start of the semester the student plans to enroll.

Scholarship Requirements
To receive the scholarship funds, students must meet the following criteria:

  • The student must follow the Automotive and Diesel cohort class rotation schedules.
  • The scholarship must be used in consecutive terms.
  • The scholarship is not renewable.
  • The scholarship can be used with other Baker College scholarships with the exception of the Transfer or Trustees Transfer Scholarships.
  • The scholarship amount is based on institutional charges. If the student is eligible for financial aid (or other funding resources), the other aid/resources must be used first; the balance of unused portion of the scholarship is returned to the college.

Eligibility
Baker College will award twenty Porter Scholarships to new or current students based on the following criteria:

  • New student qualifications:
    • The student must attend the Baker College Culinary Institute of Michigan (Port Huron or Muskegon)
    • The student must have at least a 3.0 GPA (based on a 4.0 GPA scale) by the end of their junior or senior year
    • The student must enroll and attend during the summer or fall semester after high school graduation
  • Current student qualifications:
    • The student must attend the Baker College Culinary Institute of Michigan (Port Huron or Muskegon)
    • The student must have earned a minimum of 24 credit hours
    • The student must have a minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA

Scholarship Amount
The scholarship is awarded for $4,000 and is divided between fall and spring semesters.

Deadline
The student must submit submit the following documents prior to June 1 for scholarship consideration:

  • Completed scholarship application.
  • A 250-300 word essay explaining:
    • New Students: Why you will pursue the culinary profession and how the scholarship will help you achieve your educational goal.
    • Current Students: Define what service leadership means to you. Describe how you have enriched the lives of fellow students, college and community members through service leadership while attending the CIM. How will the scholarship help you achieve your educational goal.

Scholarship Requirements
To receive the scholarship funds, students must meet the following criteria:

  • To qualify for the full scholarship, students must enroll full-time each semester (typically 15 credit hours). The scholarship award amount will be prorated based on actual enrollment status (minimum of 6 credit hours required).
  • Summer registration is not required; however, funds will be awarded if students attend at least half-time during the summer semester. 
  • This scholarship may be combined with other federal, state or institutional grants or scholarships for which the student qualifies.
  • Students are encouraged to apply for financial aid; however, financial need is not a requirement to receive the scholarship.
  • The scholarship amount is based on institutional charges. If the student is eligible for financial aid (or other funding resources), the other aid/resources must be used first; the balance of unused portion of the scholarship is returned to the college.

Application
Qualified students should complete the application through our Online Application Process prior to June 1.

Eligibility

  • The student must be attending an undergraduate campus.
  • T.E.A.C.H. Early Childhood® MICHIGAN is a statewide scholarship program designed to help child care center teaching staff, preschool teachers, family child care providers, group home owners, center directors, early childhood professionals and administrators meet their professional development goals, while continuing their current employment in regulated early childhood and school age care settings T.E.A.C.H. Early Childhood® MICHIGAN addresses two major challenges in the early education and care field – low wages and high turnover.

    The scholarship helps increase compensation and the retention of skilled teachers. The education level of child care providers is one of the most critical indicators of the quality of a child’s experiences in child care. Scholarship Amount
The scholarship will cover up to six credit hours of tuition.

Deadline
The scholarship does not have a deadline. Applications are accepted at any time.

Scholarship Requirements
To receive the scholarship funds, students must meet the following criteria:

  • Students must be pursuing a degree in Early Childhood Education or Child Development.
  • Additional information and the application are available on the TEACH website: http://www.miaeyc.org/professional-development/t-e-a-c-h-scholarships/ .

Eligibility

Baker College will select two current students to receive the Taylor/Graystone Scholarship. One scholarship will be awarded to a student pursuing Business Administration and one scholarship will be awarded to a student pursuing Cybersecurity.  Students will be selected based on the following criteria:

  • The student must be attending an undergraduate campus.
  • Evidence of community leadership through one of the following avenues:
    • Providing regular service or leadership to a community organization.
    • Working full-time while balancing family and school obligations.
  • Junior or senior grade level (a minimum of 60 earned semester credits).
  • Enrolled in a bachelor degree in either Business Administration or Cybersecurity.
  • A minimum of 3.0 cumulative GPA at the end of the fall semester.

Scholarship Amount
The scholarship will be awarded for $1,000 (typically during the fall semester). Funds can be awarded during the summer if the student will not attend fall. Funds can be divided into fall and spring semester based on student request.

Deadline
The scholarship application deadline is May 1st. Scholarship recipients will be announced in June. The student must submit the following documents prior to the deadline to be considered for the scholarship:

  • Completed scholarship application.
  • A 250-500 word essay explaining why the student should be selected for the scholarship based on their commitment to community service or commitment to work and family.
  • At least one letter of recommendation from the community organization or employer.

Scholarship Requirements
To receive the scholarship funds, students must meet the following criteria:

  • Register for a minimum of 6 credit hours during the summer or fall semester.
  • Students are encouraged to apply for financial aid; however, financial need is not a requirement to receive the scholarship.
  • This scholarship may be combined with other federal, state or institutional grants or scholarships for which the student qualifies.

Application
Qualified students should complete the application (including their essay of recommendation) through our Online Application Process. You will need to log in using your Baker credentials to access this application.

Eligibility
The Michigan Board of Nursing Scholarship is funded by the State of Michigan and is available to students attending the College of Nursing.  The number and amount of scholarships available will be determined based on the level of funding received.  The scholarship will be awarded based on the following criteria:

  • The student must be accepted into the professional track of the Bachelor of Science Nursing Degree Program. 
  • The student intends to practice as a nurse in the state of Michigan.
  • The student is not in receipt of a full scholarship from another source.

Scholarship Amount
The number of scholarships available and award amount will be determined based on the level of funding received from LARA. 

  • For the 2023/2024 school year, up to 5 scholarships will be awarded at each campus.  Each scholarship will be awarded for a minimum of $1850.

Deadline
The scholarship application deadline is June 1st. Scholarship recipients will be announced in July. The student must submit the following documents prior to the deadline to be considered for the scholarship:

  • Completed scholarship application
  • Submit a 250-300 word essay explaining
    • Why you feel you are deserving of this scholarship
    • How this scholarship will assist you to ultimately meet the health needs of vulnerable populations in underserved areas
  • Complete and include the Michigan Board of Nursing Application with your scholarship application

Scholarship Requirements
To receive the scholarship funds, students must meet the following criteria:

  • The student must be a permanent resident in the state of Michigan.
  • If the student is licensed as a nurse,  they must hold an unencumbered Michigan license to practice nursing.
  • The student is not in receipt of a full scholarship from another source.
  • The student must be maintaining satisfactory progress as determined
  • Students are encouraged to apply for financial aid; however, financial need is not a requirement to receive the scholarship.
  • The scholarship is not renewable.

Application
Qualified students should complete the application (including their essay) through our Online Application Process.

Eligibility
Baker College participates in the Muskegon Promise Scholarship program. For program eligibility details, please visit the Muskegon Area Intermediate School District website at https://www.muskegonisd.org/ctc-home/career-development/promise/

  • Students must live within the boundaries of the Muskegon Area Intermediate School District (MAISD).
  • Students must graduate from high school located within the boundaries of MAISD with a cumulative 3.5 GPA or higher.
  • Students must apply for student aid using the FAFSA and complete the verification process.

Scholarship Amount
The scholarship amount is set by the Muskegon Promise Scholarship program.

Deadline
There is no application. Students will be notified of eligibility by letter and asked to accept the award in writing each spring.

Scholarship Requirements
To receive the scholarship funds, students must meet the following criteria:

  • Students will have a maximum of four years after high school graduation to use their Promise Scholarship award.
  • The scholarship amount is calculated based on allowable charges. If the student is eligible for financial aid, the other aid must be used first; the balance of unused portion of the scholarship is returned to the college.
  • Students must successfully complete their coursework and maintain Satisfactory Academic Progress to maintain eligibility for the scholarship.

Transfer Scholarships

Note: If a student’s GPA was negatively impacted due to the COVID-19 Pandemic (during an Asterisk Semester), their previous cumulative GPA may be utilized to determine scholarship eligibility.

Eligibility
Baker College will award the Trustees Transfer Scholarship to new Baker College students based on the following criteria:

  • The student must be attending an undergraduate campus.
  • The student must have earned at least 60 semester credits from an accredited college or university that are transferable to Baker College (or have earned an associate degree from an accredited college or university).
  • Student must have achieved at least a 3.5 cumulative GPA (based on a 4.0 scale) at the prior college or university.

Scholarship Amount
The scholarship will be awarded at $3,000 per semester for full time enrollment (up to $9,000 per year for students who attend summer). The award amount is prorated for students who attend less than 12 credit hours. The scholarship is available for up to 3 years.

Deadline
The scholarship deadline is 30 days prior to the start of the semester the student plans to enroll as a new student. The student must submit the following documents prior to the deadline to be considered for the scholarship:

  • Completed & Paid Admissions Application.
  • Official College Transcripts showing the courses and cumulative GPA.

Scholarship Requirements
To receive the scholarship funds, students must meet the following criteria:

  • Students are encouraged to register full time in order to receive the full scholarship award amount of $3,000 per semester. The student must register for a minimum of 6 credit hours per semester. Students who register 6-8 credits will be awarded $1,500 per semester; students who register 9-11 credits will be awarded $2,250 per semester.
  • Summer registration is not required; however, funds will be awarded if students attend at least half-time during the summer semester. The award amount will be prorated if the student does not attend full time.
  • For renewal, students must maintain a minimum of a 3.0 cumulative GPA at the end of each spring semester.
  • Students receiving the scholarship will not be awarded other institutional aid or scholarships (unless the other scholarship allows funds to be combined).
  • Students are encouraged to apply for financial aid; however, financial need is not a requirement to receive the scholarship.
  • The scholarship amount is based on institutional charges. If the student is eligible for financial aid (or other funding resources), the other aid/resources must be used first; the balance of unused portion of the scholarship is returned to the college.
  • To qualify, the student must be a new Baker College student (students who previously attended Baker College are not eligible).

Note: If a student’s GPA was negatively impacted due to the COVID-19 Pandemic (during an Asterisk Semester), their previous cumulative GPA may be utilized to determine scholarship eligibility.

Eligibility
Baker College will award the Transfer Scholarship to new Baker College students based on the following criteria:

  • The student must be attending an undergraduate campus.
  • The student must have earned at least 15 semester credits from an accredited college or university that are transferable to Baker College.
  • Student must have achieved at least a 3.0 cumulative GPA (based on a 4.0 scale) at the prior college or university.

Scholarship Amount
The scholarship will be awarded at $1,500 per semester for full time enrollment (up to $4,500 per year for students who attend summer). The award amount is prorated for students who attend less than 12 credit hours. The scholarship is available for up to 3 years.

Deadline
The scholarship deadline is 30 days prior to the start of the semester the student plans to enroll as a new student. The student must submit the following documents prior to the deadline to be considered for the scholarship:

Eligibility
Baker College will award the Gap Year Scholarship to 2020, 2021, or 2022 high school graduates based on the following criteria:

  • The student must attend an undergraduate campus within 3.5 years of high school graduation.
  • The student must have at least a 3.0 GPA (based on a 4.0 GPA scale) by the end of their senior year.
  • If the student attended college after high school graduation, they must have fewer than 15 college credits earned.  

Scholarship Amount
The scholarship will be awarded at $1,500 per semester (up to $4,500 per year for students who attend summer). The scholarship is available for up to 4 years. The total value is estimated at $12,000.

Deadline
The scholarship deadline is 30 days prior to the start of the semester the student plans to enroll as a new student.  The student must submit the following documents to be considered for the scholarship during the upcoming school year:

  • Completed and Paid Admissions Application.
  • High School Transcript.

Scholarship Requirements
To receive the scholarship funds, students must meet the following criteria:

  • Register for a minimum of 15 credit hours per semester (exceptions are allowed when required based on program restrictions). If exceptions are made, the scholarship award amount may be prorated based on the student’s enrollment status.
  • Summer registration is not required; however, funds will be awarded if students attend during the summer semester. The award amount will be prorated if the student does not attend full time.
  • For renewal, students must maintain a minimum of a 3.0 cumulative GPA at the end of each spring semester.
  • Students receiving the scholarship will not be awarded other institutional aid or scholarships (unless the other scholarship allows funds to be combined).
  • Students are encouraged to apply for financial aid; however, financial need is not a requirement to receive the scholarship.
  • The scholarship amount is based on institutional charges. If the student is eligible for financial aid (or other funding resources), the other aid/resources must be used first; the balance of the unused portion of the scholarship is returned to the college.

Eligibility
Baker College will award the BC Housing Scholarship based on the following criteria:

  • The student must be attending an undergraduate campus.
  • The student must be under 25 years old at the term’s start.
  • The student must reside on Cadillac, Owosso, or Port Huron campuses.
  • The student must be enrolled in any Baker College certificate, associate or bachelor’s degree program.
  • The student must be a new or re-entry student to Baker College.

Scholarship Amount
The scholarship covers housing costs for fall and/or spring semesters as detailed below (this scholarship is not available for summer semester):

Scholarship Requirements
To receive the scholarship funds, students must meet the following criteria:

  • Must be an undergraduate learner enrolled full-time each term and maintain continuous enrollment.
    • Courses can be taken online, in-person, or online live.
  • Must maintain good academic standing.
    • New First-year and Transfer students admitted to the college are considered in good standing in their first semester.
    • Re-entry and continuing students must be in good standing, as per the student handbook.

Graduate Scholarships

Eligibility
Baker College will award the Graduate Studies Alumni Scholarship to Baker College graduates who enroll into one of our Master’s or Doctoral Degree programs.

  • Students who enroll in a Master’s degree program must have earned a Bachelor Degree at Baker College with a minimum 2.5 GPA.
  • Students who enroll in a Doctoral degree program must have earned a Bachelor or Master’s degree program with a 3.0 GPA.

Scholarship Amount
The scholarship will be awarded as follows:

  • Full Time Enrollment: $2,000 per semester (up to $6,000 per year for students who attend summer) for students attending 9 or more credit hours.
  • Half Time Enrollment: $1,000 per semester (up to $3,000 per year for students who attend summer) for students attending 5-8 credit hours.

The scholarship is renewable until graduation.

Application
The scholarship is awarded at time of acceptance into the College of Graduate Studies. No scholarship application is required. The deadline is 30 days prior to the start of the semester the student plans to enroll.

Scholarship Requirements
To receive the scholarship funds, students must meet the following criteria:

  • Register for a minimum of 5 credit hours per semester.
  • Student must maintain continuous enrollment.
  • Summer registration is not required; however, funds will be awarded if students attend at least half time during the summer semester.
  • For renewal, students must continue to maintain good academic standing.
  • Students receiving the scholarship will not be awarded other institutional aid or scholarships.
  • The scholarship amount is based on institutional charges. If the student is eligible for financial aid (or other funding resources), the aid/resources must be used first; the balance of unused portion of the scholarship is returned to the college.
  • This scholarship is available for students who enroll in an eligible program during or after fall 2018.

Eligibility
Through partnership with the Michigan College Access Network (MCAN), Baker College will award the AdviseMI Scholarship to students who are employed as advisors through the AdviseMI program.

To qualify for the scholarship, the student must enroll into the Master of Business Administration (excluding Cloud Security/Risk Management), Master of Science in Educational Leadership, Master of Science in Nursing, Master of Science in I/O Psychology or Master of Science in Information Systems (excluding Cloud Security/Risk Management) programs.

Scholarship Amount
The scholarship will be awarded as follows:

  • Full Time Enrollment: $2,000 per semester (up to $6,000 per year for students who attend summer) for students attending 9 or more credit hours.
  • Half Time Enrollment: $1,000 per semester (up to $3,000 per year for students who attend summer) for students attending 5-8 credit hours

The scholarship is renewable until graduation.

The scholarship application must be completed 30 days prior to the start of the semester the student plans to enroll.
