Like most institutions, Baker College health science programs have limited enrollment, meaning only a select number of students are admitted into the program each term. As demand for health science majors continues to grow, students must compete academically to earn a seat in their chosen program.
*Direct admission allows high-performing high school students who meet and maintain eligibility requirements to skip the competitive process and receive guaranteed admission into the health science program of their choice.
Eligibility Requirements
High School Requirements
- Minimum 3.5 cumulative GPA (on a 4.0 scale)
- 2.7 grade or higher in biology and one other science course
First-Year Requirements
- Complete core credit hours
- For Veterinary Technology (Spring semester start only):
- 15 credits – COM 1010, MTH 1010, BIO 2410 & BIO 2411, VET 1010A & VET 1011
- For all other programs (must be completed during your first year):
- 15 credits in General Education – COM 1010, MTH 1010, COM 1020, PSY 2050, General Education Elective
- 13 credits in Health Science – HSC 1010, BIO 1210 & BIO 1211, BIO 1220 & BIO 2221, BIO 2150
- For Veterinary Technology (Spring semester start only):
- Maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0
- Must earn a minimum grade of 2.0 in all general education courses and a grade of 2.7 in all health science courses.
- Submit a Health Science Limited Enrollment Application to confirm program and campus selection.
