SOUTHFIELD, Mich. (Sept. 19, 2022) – Volunteers of America Michigan (VOAMI) welcomes Kristin Benton as the new Director of Development and Communications. Benton is responsible for the statewide philanthropic activities including developing fundraising programs, increasing revenue, and diversifying VOAMI’s donor base.
Benton’s addition to the team is critical in the organization’s trajectory to make a positive difference in the lives of those who are served by the nonprofit organization.
“Kristin will be an invaluable member of our team, and her knowledge of social services will be crucial in our efforts to assist in-need families across Michigan,” said Alex Brodrick, president of Volunteers of America Michigan. “I am confident that Kristin’s experience in both leadership and social services will lead us to growth for many years to come.”
Benton joins VOAMI with over 12 years of experience in the social services industry. Benton most recently served as the director of development at Oakland Family Services, where she was responsible for volunteer management, strategic planning, communication efforts, and co-leading the organization’s diversity, equity, and inclusion groups.
Benton is a member of the Association of Fundraising Professionals’ Greater Detroit Chapter, where she serves on the Education and Program Committees, as well as the Inclusion, Diversity, Equity and Access (IDEA) Committee. In September 2021, Benton obtained her Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE) certification. She also has a certificate in Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion in the Workplace from the University of South Florida.
