FLINT TOWNSHIP, Mich. – Baker College’s Flint campus will be the venue for the campus’ first Community, Cars, Crafts & College event, Sunday, May 21, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., 1050 W. Bristol Road, Flint.
The free, public event is an expansion of the college’s popular annual Car and Motorcycle Show, which featured more than 500 vehicles last year. New activities include demonstrations and interactive displays by Baker College students, community arts and crafts booths, and a kids’ zone, which includes a bounce house.
“This will be a fun-filled day on campus that offers entertaining, interesting and helpful things to do and see,” said Wen Hemingway, MBA, CTP, Baker College of Flint president. “Two of the interactive displays planned are free health checks by students in health science programs and free computer ‘Fix-IT’ services by students in information technology programs.”
Hemingway encourages area artists and crafters to reserve their booths and those with special vehicles to plan to display them at the event.
For the car show, Baker College will continue to present awards for the top 25 cars/trucks, the top 10 motorcycles, the President’s Award and Dean’s Award for both categories and the Best of Show award, as well as recognize car clubs that exhibit.
Free vehicle registration is onsite 9 a.m. to noon the day of the event. The first 100 vehicle entries will receive free dash plaques, goodie bags and lunch vouchers. Hemingway said that vendors offering automotive-related items are already signing up.
There is no booth charge for vendors, but they must pre-register. To reserve space for car clubs and vendor booths, contact showinfo@baker.edu or 810.766.2263.
The Car and Motorcycle Show has been held for seven years at Baker College’s Center for Transportation Technology, Dort Highway and Interstate Highway 69.
